Profile Information

Hometown:
Originally, Belleville, PA, now Bruceton Mills. I've lived in WV for over 17 years.
About Me:
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Dr. Steve Herto--an incredible chiropractor--and have been for 18 years. We have three phenomenal kids: Taylor, Dalton & Dane, and I'm an at-home mom who homeschools and volunteers in a number of different organizations. My background is journalism and public relations with a degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and it is put to use every day and in nearly every task I undertake. My hobbies are reading, travel, scuba diving, and natural health.
How long have you been at the RIDGE? or another church? or what is your level of spiritual interest?
I've been in church for most of my life, but was awakened after starting to attend CRC in July 2002. My life--and the life of my family--has changed drastically since then because of our personal relationships with the Lord, building our family values around the Word, and beginning to understand the depth of holding a Biblical world view.

Favorite Music:
Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, J Nicholson, Mark Harris, Newsboys, some TobyMac. I enjoy listening to the type of music played on KLOVE.
Favorite TV Shows:
I like Lost, Survivor, American Idol when it gets to the final 12, and Fox News. I also like home improvement shows, 30-Minute Meals, and Everyday Italian.
Where are you serving in the church?
I serve as a DV8 leader for the girls on Tuesday nights. I'm also a part of a group of moms raising 14/15-ish-year-old, homeschooled daughters-of-faith, and we meet every other week for fellowship and discussion about faith issues with our daughters.

My theRIDGE thought...

I have long lived by the mantra "within every crisis, there is a blessing."

Even before developing a personal relationship with the Lord, I used this when facing challenges. I always believed that God had a purpose for our lives, and that we would come to more clearly understand that purpose if we could find the blessings that always exist within or come from facing a challenge in a positive manner.

A few years ago, my daughter pointed out Romans 8:28 to me: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

I didn't know the Word well enough at that time to know that my mantra was in there. Among my many early discoveries, I learned that before MY mantra was mine, it was His.

Even before I opened myself up to knowing Him personally, He knew me and was at work in my life. God is Great!

The Kindness Factor...

We arrived home from our Colorado trip on Saturday evening. We knew that Sunday would be a catch-up day after being away for the week, but Sundays always begin with church if we are in town. This particular Sunday--yesterday--was the start of a new adult education class, too. This meant that we would be going to both morning services (worship and then Sunday School for all of us), so it was a full morning. Worshipping our Lord is a priority for our family, and we knew it would be the best… Continue

......Thanks, Pam! The climb to the top of Mount St. Helens was incredible, and the view from there was phenomenal. It took us 13 hours of climbing to do it round-trip, plus we spent an hour at the summit. It amazes me that even in total destruction, one can see the beauty and magnificence of God's Creation. I can't help but wonder how beautiful Earth was when it was created and before the Flood, because it still is an awesome Earth to explore!
